Set up llms.txt and llms-full.txt

llms.txt gives AI assistants a clean, curated map of your site. New to it? Read What are llms.txt and llms-full.txt? This guide generates yours and keeps it fresh automatically.

Before you start

Like your other SEO files, llms.txt goes live once you have connected a delivery channel — see Connect Cloudflare to MetaPilot. A Cloudflare Worker serves it from your own zone; on Shopify, where the platform owns the root path, your store redirects /llms.txt to the copy MetaPilot hosts for you.

The advanced end of MetaPilot. What each file does, and why to change one thing at a time. 53 seconds.
  1. 1

Open Agent Web → Robots & LLMs

The same page that holds your robots.txt also manages your llms files.
  2. 2

    Generate llms.txt

Click Generate llms.txt. MetaPilot pre-fills it from your sitemap data — a markdown map of your site written for AI assistants. Review, edit if you like, and click Save.
  3. 3

    (Optional) Generate llms-full.txt

Do the same for llms-full.txt to give AI systems richer, page-by-page detail behind the summary.
  4. 4

    Auto-refresh is already on

Whenever your pages change or schema regenerates, MetaPilot rebuilds the managed llms.txt / llms-full.txt from current data — diffing before it writes, and never touching your robots.txt or hand-written files. A stale llms file is worse than none, so this is on by default; you can switch it off under Auto-refresh llms files in your dashboard preferences.
  5. 5

    It's served at the edge

Your delivery channel serves the current files — live on the next request.
