What are rich results?
TL;DR
Rich results (rich snippets) are the enhanced search listings that show extras — star ratings, FAQs, images, prices, breadcrumbs — instead of a plain blue link. They're powered by structured data, and they win far more attention.
What it is
A normal result is a title, URL, and a line of text. A rich result dresses it up with data pulled from your page's structured data: a recipe shows its rating and cook time, a product shows price and stock, an FAQ expands right in the results. Google decides when to show them, based on the structured data you provide and its own quality checks.
Why it matters
- More clicks. A listing with stars and images stands out and earns a bigger share of clicks.
- More trust. Ratings, prices, and answers up front signal credibility before the visit.
- AEO overlap. The same clean, labeled data that earns rich results also helps AI answer engines quote you confidently.

FAQ
Does structured data guarantee a rich result?
No — it makes a page eligible. Google still decides what to show, but without it you can't qualify.
Which pages can get rich results?
Common ones: products, recipes, reviews, FAQs, how-tos, events, and articles.
Why did my rich result disappear?
Often the structured data changed or stopped appearing — see schema liveness.
